Found this interesting

Among a very large pile of logs for firewood there was part of a very large maple tree. I'm not sure how big it was, but it was big. A cross section of it revealed the scars from many many years of maple tapping.

A closer look

Not so YAY :(

It's been over a month since I've posted on here but last time it was about our offer being accepted on a house. Well, it didn't work out and we've backed out of the contract.  I am still kind of mad. We backed out because the inspection did not go well. Basically what you couldn't see was all wrong. The plumbing, some structural issues and some other really costly things to replace.
I'm not angry that we didn't get the house but I am quite irritated all the crap we went through just to not get it. I think we ran into almost any problem that you can (including problems that people don't normally run into), everything was delayed several times and it was just a huge pain in the ass. Excluding the inspection, all of the issues were other people dragging their asses, being dishonest, or just sucking in general. I am happy though that we learned alot, avoided getting ripped off by a few different people and the next one should go a little smoother.......it better.

Yay!

Our offer on the house was accepted. Inspection scheduled and everything else is in the works. I can barely contain myself still even though I've known this for a couple days so I'm just going to leave it at that. So so so HAPPY!!!!!

Long time, No blog

The weather has just been lovely and I have been exhausted trying to keep up with the little...so I haven't been here in what feels like forever.
Not a whole lot has gone on lately we've just been house hunting.
On that tpoic, I think i may have found my little dream home. We put in our bid and now we are just waiting, crossing our fingers, and trying not to get our hopes up. I do really hope that we get this house. It has some little issues but I know in time it can be our perfect little place tucked into the woods. :)

the good the bad and the funny

The Good:
I finally got a sewing machine. I have gone far too long without one. It's sad really. What makes it even better that it was free. It's a hand me down that was barely used. All of the little peices were still sealed up in their little packages. I am thrilled. I needed one so bad. Luckily I had mentioned buying one and someone very sweet said "wait take this one".  Gotta love grandmas. :)

The Bad:
We fell in love with a house that we were shown and put in a bid. They countered right away. We put in another (strong) bid and waited. We thought our chances of getting it were good but someone else came along offering cash so they got it. I was quite sad about that one. I wanted that house so bad. It needed a bit of work but it was perfect in my eyes. hmmph. I hope we find another one just as good and soon.

The Funny:
I went and saw Charlie Sheen's live show.
I had no clue what to expect and of course I wondered if we had just wasted a bunch of money on tckets. I actually enjoyed it. Love him or hate him, I thought he was funny and we had a great time. I think that the people who did not enjoy it had expectations. I went with none, so I was not disappointed.

I miss thrift stores

It's one of the very few things I miss about living in a city. There are hardly any thrift stores around here. There are a couple of them that I am aware of within a reasonable distance, but most of it is junky. It seems like I could go to one, come back a year later and it's the same junk with just more dust collected on top. It's probably a good thing though because I'm a stay at home mom, my fiance works his butt off to provide for us and I feel bad spending his hard earned money on stuff we don't need.
It is tempting though.
I may not have any good thrift stores nearby but at least I have the internet. I was looking at shopgoodwill.com just now and found a bunch of things I would probably buy for no reason if I had a job. (I wouldn't feel as guilty going nuts buying things I have no use for if it were my own hard earned money).

Here are a few cool things I found on there......

An Earl Christy Print

An old pretty scale

A vintage flying saucer toy (with retractable legs)

 Vintage Doctor's head reflector thingie

A vintage Teetertot bouncing rocking chair

Goodwill was always a favorite of mine but I don't have one anywhere near me....that's ok because I think shopgoodwill.com is even better than the goodwill store I used to live by. I still kinda miss hunting and digging around through everything though. It's not the same as clicking a mouse.

(the links included in the pictures may or may not work depending on when you read this. Shopgoodwill is an auction site so those particular things will be gone soon.)

Hey! Where did Spring go?

I'm freezing!!!!
Last week it was beautiful outside. Right now it's in the 30's with no signs of of going up. I don't like being teased by the weather. I suppose we could still play outside but I'm not the only one who hates the cold. My son will tolerate about 5 minutes of it and want back in the house and our pug will run around for about 6 minutes and want back in. I don't blame either of them.
There is snow on the ground but that won't stop me from daydreaming of sunshine and daffodils.

For a vintage kitchen

I love just about anything retro, vintage, antique, whatever you wanna call anything old. The way our house hunt has been going it's become obvious that I will have to totally redo a kitchen. Cabinets, flooring, walls, I have my ideas ......but what about everything else? I'd like to share a few cute retro/retro inspired things that I have stumbled upon.

It comes in two sizes, a bunch of different colors, and you can even choose which side the handles are on.

you can get a matching range hood too. They also carry under the counter fridges and dishwashers.

Everyone has seen a Kit-cat Clock but I had no idea that there was an Official Kit-Cat clock website

They have different colors and styles and even football helmets that you can put on them.

Are you more of a dog lover?

Barn Light Electric has some really cool lighting.
( a house that was for sale had something similar in the kitchen and it was the only thing I liked about the place)

Have I mentioned that I really like jadite geen? lol
I'll be posting more things soon.

I'm not even sure where to start

This is not my first blog. I've pretty much abandoned my last one because it really wasn't cutting it for me anymore. I had been through some sad things and looking over all of my previous posts, it just felt depressing. These days I am much happier and I feel like I'm heading into a fresh start so why not just start a new blog?

It's really hard to sum up my life so I guess for now I will just say these few things......
I am not married but happily engaged to a great guy.
We have a wonderful little son together (he's our life).
I am a stay at home mom.
We just began hunting for a house (first time home buying is kinda scary).
Once we find a place to call our own we'll set a date and actually get married (I'm already planning it in my head).
